Playful Embossed Poppies
by Anne Thompson

Anne here with a Playful Poppies card. There are so many things to love about this 2026 Spring Blooms Collection! I had a hard time deciding what products to use for this post. I settled on making a card that features EF1027 Playful Poppies 3D Embossing Folder and Cutting Dies as well as card stock from the Sunrise paper pad.

I chose watercolor paper with the embossing folder to create the focal image for this card. I loved the way this came out so much that I made a half dozen more so I could experiment with different coloring mediums. For this card I used fingertip daubers and Hero Arts Butter Bar and VersaFine Clair Grass Green inks to color the image. The cutting dies that came with the embossing folder cut out the image perfectly. (I did use washi tape to secure the die to the paper before cutting.) The background papers are from the Sunrise Solid Core Cardstock Pack SP1013. I cut the darker orange 5 1/4 X 4 and the lighter squash 5 X 3 3/4 and layered them up. I used Scor-Tape to attach the poppies to the background..

Here is a closeup of the inked image.

I decided not to add a sentiment at this time as I’m not certain how I will use this card. I could certainly add one of the sentiment tabs, but I think I’ll probably look at the words from CL5281 Playful Poppies Clear Stamps set to find something appropriate, stamp it with Versa/fine Clair Nocturne (black) ink on a scrap of watercolor paper, trim it to the right size and pop it onto the front of the card.

We had a brief hint of spring here in the Northeast on Thursday with temperatures in the high 40s and rain, but it’s snowing again as I type this post. Dream of spring with us on the Design Team, though, as we continue to show our creations. You might also take a look at the Idea Book for this collection here for even more inspiration.
