Love You Mouse
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends, and Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you all have a day filled with love and kindness.

For my card today, I used the latest Birthday Blossoms release to create my Valentine. The birthday balloons had a heart balloon, so that was the inspiration for my card.

To make the heart balloon look shiny, I started with red cardstock and placed a piece of packing tape on top of it. I then pressed the cardstock and tape together with a bonefolder to make everything nice and smooth:

In the picture above, you may be able to see that on the left hand side, I hadn’t yet gone over the cardstock/tape with the bonefolder, and it isn’t as smooth as the right.

I placed my heart die on top of the tape and cut out the shape:

I placed the heart at an angle so that you can see the shine. You could also use red glossy paper if you have it or emboss it with clear embossing powder for a similar look. I find the tape and easy method to use with dies.

Next, I wanted to add a soft background for my mouse. I sponged the center of my card with pink Pan Pastel chalk and then added some dots using the new polkadot stencil set:

I chose one of the polkadot stencils, placed it over the pink chalk and sponged the holes I wanted with Versamark ink.

I removed the stencil and sponged the inked dots with the same chalk. Pan pastels don’t smudge when you add chalk to the inked dots. You could get a similar look with pink inks and a sponge.

I repeated the process with a second polkadot stencil from the set to get more dots.

To finish the card, I added my die cut mouse. I cut her out using white cardstock and then colored her with the following Copic markers:

Mouse body and outside ears- E50, E53, E55

Mouse inside ears- E000, R00, R20

Skirt and shoes= RV55

Nose and shirt- R81

I was inspired to embellish her a bit more. My dog had been groomed this week and came back with pink mesh netting around her neck. I used a bit of that netting with liquid glue to add volume to the skirt. I tried die cutting the mesh, but that didn’t work. I found it best to glue the mesh, let it dry and cut it the way I wanted.

I decided to add the crown and jewels as well to finish the princess look.

The new birthday sentiment set has a “we love you” stamp. I decided to just ink and stamp the “love you” part of the image.

Thanks you so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
