Happy Fall in oranges and browns! Today’s card developed from an experiment with watercolor crayons during a watercolor workshop this past week. Every Thursday a group of us get together in the church hall to play with different watercolor media and techniques. I used Canson 140 lb. watercolor paper and watercolor crayons this time. I tried coloring with the crayons first on the paper and then added water with a thick brush; I dipped the crayons in water and colored with the wet crayons; and I used a wet brush to lift color off the crayon and then apply it to paper. I filled two large pieces of watercolor paper with lots of orange and brown wide stripes.
I used the two largest CINCHED FRAMES 94944 to cut out a light orange panel and a darker orange one from my watercolor papers which I layered together and added to the front of a blank white A2 note card. I used a smaller Cinched Frame to cut a piece of orange plaid from NUTMEG PLAID PP1033 which I then added on top a little to the left of center. After die cutting the GATHERED TREE TRUNKS 94976 from brown watercolored paper, I used a glue pen to add them on top of the plaid frame. I used just the words from HAPPY FALL STYLISH SCRIPT 94985 cut from one of the brown painted papers and used the glue pen to place it to the right of center near the tree trunks.
It’s really starting to feel like fall here with cooler nights and early mornings even though its a couple of weeks until the official first day of fall. Some trees are already starting to change color. The kids are back in school. And life is starting to slow down a bit as the summer folks leave and the town stores and the library go to fall/winter hours. This is my favorite time of the year!
