Greetings friends. I am excited to share my card today because the new Cozy Quacker die makes me smile. He is just so sweet!
To make my card, I cut out the duck body and wings using white cardstock and then edged the bottom of the duck and the bottom of the wings using some Pumice Stone Distress Ink. I chose Pumice Stone because it is a brownish grey, and warm greys work really well with white animal fur or feathers.
Next, I cut out the feet and duck bill with orange cardstock.
For the hat and scarf, I cut everything out using a scrap of teal cardstock. I then added some details using Copic markers. For example, here are the three pieces for the hat:
They were all cut from the same piece of paper, but I colored the ear flaps with a C3 marker (Cool Grey #3) and shaded the brim of the hat with a C1 marker. I often find it easier to cut all of the die pieces I can out of one color and then color them with markers to match my needs. you could also cut out each piece using a different color of cardstock. Here is a close up of the finished duck:
I added a bit of light pink Copic marker to make the cheeks. I can’t seem to make animals without giving them rosy cheeks.
For the background, I cut out two arches using white cardtock. For the background arch, I sponged it with Spun Sugar, Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks. I then spritzed it lightly with water to get a splotchy look. I then tried to add a bit of snow by watering down some white guache paint and splattering it onto my card. The blobs ended up a bit bigger than planned, but I was smart enough to stop fussing with it before I messed it up.
To finish the card, I cut off the bottom of my second white arch to make it look like a snowbank and added my sentiment in blue ink.
