Snowflake Lens, Wrapped Stitch Rectangles and Blessed to Know You
by Jean Okimoto

The new Snowflake Lens fits perfectly in the 3.5″ x 4.75″ Wrapped Stitch Rectangle, creating another simple watercolored holiday card today.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here, on this last weekend of August.  2017 is moving so quickly…it’s 120 days before Christmas!

Snowflake Lens is a bit wreath-y, very contemporary and plays well with Peerless Watercolors.  Spray the watercolored background lightly with Imagine Crafts Sheer Shimmer Spritz and set it aside to dry.

Cut the Wrapped Stitch Rectangle.  Stamp “CHRISTMAS WISHES”- from the new Open Studio Blessed to Know You clear stamp set – with Pearlescent Jade Brilliance.  Dry the ink.

Cut Snowflake Lens – make it easy by placing two or three  small, sticky-side-out rolled pieces of painter’s tape on the open areas between the snowflakes.  They’ll attach the die to the cardstock for diecutting –  and those sections will be removed and tossed out when you’re done.

Trim the dry watercolored background to fit behind the Snowflake Lens.

Cut 5/8″ strips of cardstock – 3-3/4″ of teal, 4″ of lavender and 4-1/4″ of turquoise.  Cut one edge of the lavender strip with a Wrapped Stitch Rectangle for an accent.

Cut, score and fold a 5-1/2″ square card of textured white cardstock.  Assemble the card and add lavender gem stickers.  Square cards require extra postage – I think they’re extra-special and will stand out in a crowd.

Watercolor a stash of backgrounds in your favorite holiday shades.  They’ll be ready when you’re ready to create a collection of quick holiday cards.

For an even simpler design – eliminate the colored accent strips and attach the rectangle to a A-2 card in a coordinating color.  Add gem stickers, enamel dots or sequins…and you’re done!

Thanks for stopping by – see you again this evening.  No classes for me this weekend – I’m prepping for the HOLLY, JOLLY HOLIDAY class at Impress on September 2nd.  See you!
