Hello everyone. I have a masculine card to share today using products from the Under the Sea collection. The card was going to be a regular landscspe card just as you see above, but then I thought turning the Grand Scallop Shell into an easel would be more fun. 😉
I started by die cutting the Grand Scallop Shell background twice from mixed media paper. Took one of them and partial die cut with the Pinpoint Burst Plate to get rays. Ink blended Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch distress inks (DI) on both, but only splattered water on the one without the rays and dabbed off with a paper towel to give it texture. The top piece with the rays had so much going on, it didn’t need it.
The scuba divers were die cut from black cardstock while the coral and fish were die cut from white cardstock and colored in with Copic markers. The outline Grand Scallop Shell was then die cut from Bristol paper twice, adhered together then the inside sections cut out with scissors, leaving a white border. Assembled the underwater scene.
The woodgrain background was created from Kraft Woodgrain paper. Scored it every inch then blended Antique Linen DI on it to bring out the woodgrain details better. The ropes were die cut from Cream Woodgrain paper and Antique Linen DI was blended on it as well. Adhered this panel to a white card base.
The easel was created by partial die cutting a white card base so it was still attached at the fold.
Next, fold the front in half (no measuring required) and when assembling the easel, add adhesive only to the area below the folded line (red arrow).
The sentiment was white heat embossed on black cardstock and stacked with two more pieces of cardstock to give it a bit of dimension as it acts as a stopper, allowing the easel to stand up for display. Adhered the easel to the card front, then added clear Fairy Drops as bubbles to finish.
