Reverse-Color a Vellum Blossom
by Jean Okimoto

Stamp, emboss and color the reverse side of a bold vellum blossom from our Summer Meadow release for a summer thank you card.  Hi, Jean here with a quick way to color and highlight the details of the design.  It’s also a very forgiving technique because coloring the backside of the stamped image hides any smudges and you color right over the internal lines – instead of trying to stay inside the lines of each section.

Prep heavy white vellum with the embossing powder tool to eliminate unwanted specks.  Stamp the blossom with VersaMark and heat-emboss it with detail white powder.  Ink the reverse side of the image using cotton swabs and pigment inks.  I used Morocco and Dandelion Memento Luxe and Pearlescent Thyme Brilliance.  Gently heat-set the inks, let it cool, then diecut the design with the 3-1/2″ wide Nested Globes die.

Cut light peach cardstock with the 2-1/2″ wide Nested Globes die.

Cut a 1″ x 6″ strip of the fine-lined gold and peach Poppystamps Birthday Fun 6×6.  Cut the peach and gold-dotted Birthday Fun 6×6 with the 1″ wide Nested Globes die.  Trim the corners of the 6″ strip – and the bottom corners of the Nested Globe diecuts – with a corner rounding punch.

Attach the diecuts and the strip to a white A6 card (4-1/2″ x 6-1/4″).  Use small pieces of double-stick tape on the inked areas of the design – they won’t be visible through the inks.

Attach a Thank You Foil Greetings White Circle Tab.  Add 1/4″ punched dots of the green Graceful  Garden Glitter Pad 6×6.  Cut an A6-sized piece of cardstock to protect the card fron for mailing.

Thanks for visiting – have a great weekend!
