
Greetings friends. I want to share a watercolor card with you today. It uses the Dahlia Stems background image.
To make the card, I stamped my image onto watercolor paper using black Versafine ink and then embossed it with black embossing powder. I then used washi tape to hold the paper onto heavy cardboard:

I wet the paper with water and then added my paint to the water. You can see from the picture that I added loose swatches of color to the paper. I didn’t try to cover the paper “perfectly.”

The embossing helped keep paint into each desired section. I dried the paper with a heat gun from time to time to speed along the drying process.
For the flowers, I colored them with a base coat of color and then added a second color on top of each flower. I tried not to blend the colors too much because I didn’t want to end up as a single color:

To finish the card, I added my happy birthday sentiment.
