Greetings friends. Today I want to share a card using leftovers. Never throw out anything!
My first leftover was the background. I had been using Distress Inks on a non-stick sheet. Instead of wiping off all of the leftover ink, I dabbed the leftover ink with some metallic gold watercolor paint and spritzed all of the inks/paint on the mat. I then dragged some 140lb watercolor paper through the puddles of ink/paint to create a background with swirls of color and metallic shine. I thought it looked a bit like a galaxy, so I watered down some white guache paint and splattered the background using the paint and an old toothbrush. I thought it would look more like stars, but I was pleased with the finished look anyway. I encourage you to scoop up leftover paints and inks rather than getting rid of them. You never know what you will get.

To finish the card, I used more scraps. I pulled out my die envelopes to see what pieces I had already cut. I decided I liked the look of the Wild Leaves die and thought the metallic gold butterflies would pick up the gold of the background.
Unfortunately, I need this card as a sympathy card, but I do feel as though it could be used for other occasions.
Have a great weekend.
