New Possibilities with the Butterfly Spectacle
by Jean Okimoto

Looking for more Butterfly Spectacle inspiration?  Create a window card that opens to reveal a watercolored Butterfly Ensemble trio and some sparkly lavender gems.  Hi again, Jean Okimoto here with my 401st post on Outside the Box.

The actual post count is a bit higher – maybe around 550 – it all began about 9 years ago on the InKollage blog.  It was a very steep learning curve for me – but Dave was very patient about it all.  Thanks Dave!  And to all of you,  thanks for visiting, and for all of your comments and likes on our Facebook page too!

Back to today’s card…here’s the inside view:

Scrunch a piece of waxed paper and rub it briskly over the die to help release all of the little bits.  Next, here’s an easy way to diecut Butterfly Spectacle without ruining the card front –

Attach pieces of rolled painter’s tape in the areas that will be cut away.   No worries about tearing the front of the card when you remove the die!  Diecut Butterfly Spectacle, then carefully peel the die away from the card.

Stamp New Possibilities with Brilliance Pearlescent Jade.  PJ is my favorite color for butterfly cards.  What’s your favorite Brilliance inkpad color?

Cut three of the Butterfly Ensemble butterflies from watercolored paper.  Attach them inside the card using foam dots near the centers

Cut the butterfly centers from turquoise glittered cardstock using the die from the Morning Garden Butterflies set.  Add lavender gem stickers.  Square cards require extra postage – but I think it’ll be worth it.  Hope you agree!

If you’re in Seattle – I’ll see you at Impress for Saturday’s  GOING GREEN class – and more butterfly cards.

Thanks for stopping by – please join us again tomorrow for Melissa’s great design!

  1. Wow, another beautiful butterfly card! Butterflies are my favourite! The dimension added with the solid butterflies makes this card extra special. The glittered bodies on the butterflies is the perfect embellishment. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, inspiring card today.
