Spooky Airin Birds, Resting Birds and Stitched Rectangle Trimmings
by Jean Okimoto

The Airin Bird, Airin Bird Background and Resting Birds venture down a different path for a Halloween card today.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here – let's use some un-Halloween designs to create a card for that spooky day.  I love how versatile Memory Box dies are – and how these easily turn from sweet, pretty birds into dark creatures of the night.

Stamp Sketch Journal on light gray cardstock with Imagine Crafts Delicata Black Shimmer.  Heat-set the ink.  Trim it with the 2-½" x 3-¾"  Stitched Rectangle Trimming die.

Cut Airin Bird from dark orange cardstock.  Cut Airin Bird Background from black cardstock.

No die for a witch hat?  Time to improvise!  Cut a small tree from the Making Spirits Bright die set from black cardstock.  Cut a"cake top" from the Time for Some Cake die set from black cardstock.  Layer the pieces to create a witchy hat for a Halloween bird – then bling it with small gold sequins.

Cut Resting Birds from black glittered craft foam.

Cut a 1" x 4-½"" strip of dark orange cardstock.  Attach everything to an A-6 (4-⅝" x 6-¼") card of dark gray cardstock – use foam dots for the hat.  Add more small gold sequins – and a few black ones too.

Hope you like this unusual design…and ideas for transforming favorite everyday designs into a cool, creepy card for Halloween.

Big thanks to everyone who braved last weekend's storm warnings and joined us for the first of two Cool Winter Wishes classes at Impress!  Thanks also to Ann, Stacy and Marianne for helping everyone fill their baskets with holiday products, bling and a lot more.

Have you seen Impress' exclusive new Memory Box die?  It'll be featured on a shimmery, glittery card I'm designing for next week.  Here's what I'll be using along with the special Fawn'd Friends die – Stitched Rectangle Trimmings, Snow Burst, Delicata Celestial Copper, Peerless Watercolors Bonus Pak, and green and blue glitter cardstock.  Hope you'll have a chance to shop at (or order from) Impress so you can create along with me.

Thanks for stopping by…see you next week!
